Product Description

A world-renowned expert provides a psychological profile of serial sex offenders-how they think, how they deceive their victims, and how they elude the law.

What motivates sexual abusers? Why are so few caught? Drawing on the stories of abusers, Anna C. Salter shows that sexual predators use sophisticated deception techniques and rely on misconceptions surrounding them to evade discovery. Arguing that even the most knowledgeable among us can be fooled, Salter dispels the myths about sexual predators and gives us the tools to protect our families and ourselves.

A great read for all Parents and Law Enforcement

There is no sugar coating here! Predators is a very real and informative book. I highly recommend it.

If you think this is good, Read Predator Down

Review by Lucero Mitchell, 2010-07-07

Predator Down

While this is a very educational book on helping the normal person identify predators (And it really does) I would like to recommend to everyone out there a book for potential predators. Marco Cota has written a book he claims is for potential sex offenders, and offers ways to avoid offending. I read it and believe you me it is. It is called Predator Down.

Now this book is extraordinary in that it covers so much material for people to help protect our children by being made aware of a sex offenders behaviors. I think the combination of this book and Predator Down make for some serious weapons against sex crimes. I bought a few copies of Predator Down and gave them away to men who I thought were potential offenders as I learned from this book. I feel very good that I did.

Predators

Review by Jerry Osborn, 2010-06-24

This was one of the most informative books I have ever read, that comes from the actual preditior interviews. Every one should read this book, no matter if you have children or not. The more you are informed the better. Our society need to realize there in no changing these preditors. Their way of thinking is unchangable. They admit they will do the same again. "OZ"

Hard but needed read

Review by MiladyDoyle, 2010-05-26

A hard but needed read for all who want children or have them already. Before I was pregnate I read all that I could get my hands on about Child molesters I wanted to get inside their brain ,to see what makes them tick. In order to be safe from Predator, you need to get to know theanimals behavor and the signs to look for. It saved my Childs life to do so. From reading about these types of people I learned earily on that young children think anyone that says hello or smiles at them, isn't a stranger to the child, so it's a mute point in tell the child to not talk to strangers or Stranger Danger. Because as one F.B.I agent said, childrens do not understand that a person who smiles and seems friendly may not be a friend at all, Children must be taught that they are not to talk to a Adult with out their parents, Grandparents or Teacher around. A child should also be taught to never answer an adult that is asking you for Directions, even if the child knows where the place is..Good Adults do not ask Young children directions. The child needs to be taught the dangers of this ploy and told to run rightway to home or to a trusted firends home as fast as they can. This happened to my child and she was with a friend, her friend started walking to the car and my daughter grabed her hand and said RUN, Good Adults don't ask children Directs or to help them, She said the man took off so fast he amost hit another car Molesters know that children think anyone that smiles at the child or says hello, is not a stranger to a child, they also know most parents do not know this. The child MUST be made to understand that it is very dangerous to talk to anyone without a trusted adult that the childs parents have said is trusted.

Excellent, enlightening, objective; a must read.

Review by E. Daly, 2010-05-18

As an experienced child advocate I found this book to be worth its weight in gold. Irresistibly readable, the author covers just about every aspect of the title from a viewpoint of her expertize. You will hard put to find a source of information as valuable, condensed and relevant as this. The author does warn that the segment on sadists is hard core and that the chapter should be skipped if the reader is uncomfortable. This book is important reading for parents and anyone with child contact. The media, politicians and the judiciary should read it also to understand exactly the mentality of the criminal we are dealing with; a true jackal in sheep's clothing.
